METHOD
FOR DYEING COROZO-TAGUA BUTTONS
1°
Impregnate
-Before
dyeing the Tagua- buttons, they must be impregnated with water very well.
-It is possible to proceed in two ways:
either keeping in warm water for 2-3 hours, or keeping them at 80° C.
all night long.
-The
impregnation with the water produces a clear increase in the diameter
and in the thickness of the buttons.
2°
Whitening
In
order to obtain the whitest buttons you must follow these instruction:
a)
melt 20gr CORODECO into water and then boil it;
b) plunge the buttons for 15-20 minutes;
c) decrease temperature at 60° and add 0,5% of BLANK CRZ AND maintain;
temperature
constantly for 20’-30’;
d)
rinse in running water.
3°
Bleaching
a)
To bleaching the dyed buttons you must:
b)
melt 20gr of CORODECO into water and boil it;
c) plunge the button for 15-20 minute;
d) rinse in running water.
PREPARATION
OF THE DYEING BATH
-Melt
4-8g. of dyestuff pro-litter of water. If possible, in demineralised
water.
-Increase the temperature of water bath end plunge the basked with the
buttons at 90-95°C. (206-208 F).
-If the dye-machine isn’t any automatic motion you’ll have to move
it manually.
-A bath of 10 litres come dye 5000 small-medium buttons or 1000 big
buttons.
-The dyeing-time is about 15-30 minutes.
-When you reach the desired strength of colour, you have to rinse in
flowing water very well.
-Transfers the buttons in a new bath contain 50g pro-litter of fixative
COROFIX at 30-40° C. (86-104° F) for 5 minutes.
-Rinse the buttons and dry.
